The President's Club...

Yesterday in the Nation's Capital 5 presidents met up in the White House to shoot the shit. Those 5 included the leaders of the old school: Jimmy Carter, George Bush Sr., Bill Clinton & George Bush Jr. The leader of the NEW school was our modern-day hero: Barack Hussein Obama. They pow-wowed and talked about Britney Spears, and did each other's hair, and gossiped about each others wives... Nah, I'm just playin, they never talked about each other's wives... LOL

YOU'd Call Him "Daddy" Too

Birdman or "daddy" (as Lil' Wayne affectionately calls him) was in the house Tuesday night for Wayne's 26th birthday party at Mansion night club in Miami. Guests included DJ Khaled and Akon. The party was decorated lavishly-- including an ice sculpture with crisp $100 bills encased inside of them. But if you thought that was over-the-top, that's nothing. Birdman surprised everyone int he room when eh presented Wayne with his gift: a briefcase full of $1 million!

Everyone was in awe, and Wayne was almost brought to tears after he opened the tough-leather briefcase and saw the contents... A lot of people judge these two for their relationship-- saying that they are inapproriately affectionate towards each other, but I'll tell you this. If birdman gave me a mill for my b-day, I'd be calling him my daddy too! Chuuurch.

A historical moment in hip-hop. Two-thirds of N.E.R.D (Pharrell & Shay), Grand Master Flash, Nas & buckshot attended a press conference at the Bowery hotel in NYC yesterday sponsored by the Smirnoff Experience. I love to see positive hip-hop influences get together and politic. And I must say I'm loving Pharrell's super-geek look as of late. Ain't nothing wrong with a nerdy dude ladies-- you know what I mean???

My girl Kelis was in the house as well to perform with her husband, Nas. They performed, "If I Ruled The World", and he referred to himself as: "her biggest fan". Awwwwwwwww. Hopefully this wil quell the rumors that these two are headed for a split-up. They seem to be very happy, and keeping their ish private, and that's wassup-- ya dig? Not sure what's going on with her shoes though-- we all know Kelis for her daring style, but daring and hideous can be a fine line... Holla!

Genevieve Jones: The BLACK Paris Hilton?

Meet Genevieve Jones, the 30-something 100 lbs. NYC transplant with her mind on her money and her money on her mind. Many fashion the trendy new "it" girl to be the Black answer to Paris Hilton. Born in Baton Rouge, LA to working-class parents, Jones always had champagne dreams with a beer budget. In the early 00's, she moved to New York, and suddenly became the mysterious girl at all the trendy high-fashion events. With a best friend like Zoe Kravitz, and a jewelery line under her belt (Genevieve-Jones.com) you might be hearing more from the lithe socialite... She's similar to Paris in that she's become known for really no reason in particular, but she's milking that fame into enterprises and fortune (hey, I'm not mad!).

Some say that she's the modern-day Holly Golightly, and if you are a fan of "Breakfast at Tiffany's" then you know she fits the description perfectly. She was exposed by The Wall Street Journal when many questions about her was left unanswered. Is she really a socialite? How can she afford maids and car service? Who is she and where did she come from? Through the expose it was revealed that she had humble beginnings in a working-class family, and that she was indeed 31, and not the 27 she claimed previously when featured in Vogue Magazine & Nylon. These two British imports are so fierce, that I am almost disgusted by it... Haha, jealous much? But really, these two are the epitome of the quintessential fashion-forward couple, and I'm loving every minute of it! The couple have a new fragrance called, DVB man & DVB woman.They were promoting their frgrance in NYC on friday at Macy's. And check out Posh's utter fierceness on her footwear: $6,000 heel-less Antonio Berardi PVC boots. Andre Leon Tacky-- I implore you: TAKE NOTES!

He's Going Straight 2 Da BANK With This.....

Ne-Yo is in great spirits these days. He has won a lawsuit and is getting $700,000 from R. Kelly. Two years ago, they were on tour together and R. Kelly started getting jealous because Ne-Yo was taking all the attention away from him. He changed Ne-Yo's time slot, reduced his stage time, even took away some of his dancers! Ne-Yo cried foul and claimed Kelly was dishonoring their contract. Ne-Yo left the tour and sued. This just goes to show it pays to stand up for yourself. Holla!

Janet Jackson Launches Lingerie Line...

Janet Jackson is starting a new lingerie line for women, and her focus is sexy comfort. The line, called Pleasure Principle, is an 18-piece line consisting largely of lace and satin pieces. Sizes range from 32A to 44G. When asked to expound on her endeavor, Jackson had the following to say: 

"I hate when you've had on a bra all day long and you just can't wait to take it off - every woman has experienced that," says Janet. "A lot of lingerie tends to leave those marks and be uncomfortable. This line is about detail, fit and comfort as well as beauty and making women feel sexy. In order for me to do something I have to be very passionate about it or I won't give it my all. I had so much fun designing this."

And she just got her culinary arts degree in L.A... Go Girl! This is probably why we haven't seen Kelis out and about with her hubby, and the tabloids have been speculating "trouble in paradise". Nas made the graduation announcement on Hot 97 last week. Congratulations KELS!

Black History

Who said that Black women could not uphold the standard of beauty? I know I didn't. And neither did Italian VOGUE. Behold the cover of the largest-selling Vogue Magazine to date... Is it ironic that this is also the first issue of a high-fashion magazine of this calibur featuring all-Black models? Nope! It is what it is folks, and I must say I am proud. Although the issue was heavily criticized for having all-white ads, it was still a huge step for fashion and a huge step for Pan-African culture. Our broad noses, large lips, hips and thighs are a thing of beauty right along with the rest of the revered images of beauty from the past, and into the future!

The "King" Over Time...

Lebron "King James" James covers the August 4th edition of TIME Magazine. Ever since he did the controversial VOGUE cover with Gisele Bundchen, he kinda got a bad wrap. It was the lowest-selling Vogue in history! It's a shame, because the imagery was at fault, not Lebron. Lebron James is an extremely talented, diversified, business-savvy young man at age 23. I think this cover gives him much more justice... Don't you?

Spankin' New Artist: Jazmine Sullivan

Meet 21-year-old Jazmine Sullivan-- my new favorite... This funky soul diva hails all the way from Philly, Pennsylvania. She might be new to you, but she is already an industry veteran. Sullivan has penned songs for the likes of Christina Milian ("Say I"), and has sung back-up vocals on Missy's up-coming album. The soon-to-be-titled debut album by Sullivan will be released soon via J Records. Her new single titled, "Need U Bad" featuring Missy Elliot, is a reggae-tinged soul anthem that is already burning up the charts. When you hear Sullivan's sultry voice, you think of vintage Lauryn Hill, mixed with a splash of Jennifer Hudson, mixed well with Sullivan's own signature sound. Her fourth-coming LP includes production by legends such as: Wyclef Jean, Tricky, Salaam Remi, Stargate and many more.

WORD? 50 Cent & The Game In Talks To Collaborate!

According to various sources, 50 Cent & The Game had a meeting last week to talk about possibly collaborating on future projects. This comes as a big shock-- especially since both rappers have claimed they will retire after the last LP's they released. It is even more shocking because 50 and The Game have had a bitter long-standing beef, and The Game was kicked out of G-Unit... Interesting. There are no developments about exactly what went down, or if either of the artists committed to anything, but it is some sort of progress... I will keep you posted!

Just In Case You Forgot He Was Fly...

Although, I doubt you could have... The fabulousness that is Kanye West is about to remind us all why he's so dope... West is currently in Paris, doing the rounds for summer fashion week. He revealed exclusively to Women's Wear Daily that he is teaming up with none other than Louis Vuitton to do a line of shoes... I'm already salivating at the mouth for this one. Fierce!

Heavy-Hitters Showed Up For Mandela's Birthday Dinner

Celebs including: Oprah, Robert DeNiro, Will & Jada Pinkett-Smith, Naomi Campbell and many more showed up to Nelson Mandela's birthday dinner... Amy Winehouse, who was expected to be in attendance was a no-show. Rumor has it she was holed-up in prison with her jail-bird husband Blaaaaaaaake! The Streets Are Talking....

...And they're saying that supercute hip-hop couple Fantasia and Young Dro are engaged to be married! The two have been dating for over 2 years now, and seem inseperable ever since... I'm happy for them because they seem really down-to-earth and just genuinely happy to be together-- no alterior motives (although that is purely my speculation folks, so don't quote me). Anyway, they are set to have an intimate, small ceremony for family and friends sometime this summer. Salut!
