Remy Ma: DOING HARD TIME!

Remy ma is Guilty on 4 counts, including: attempted murder, assault charges, weapons possession, and attempted coercion....
Remy Ma was charged back in 2007 for a shooting that took place in July outside of the NYC's meat-packing district's trendy PIZZABAR. The rapper got into an argument with a friend of hers, Makeda Barnes-Joseph, over $3,000 in cash which was missing from her purse.
My opinion is homegirl must be broke to try to kill a friend of over 15 years over a measely 3 g's. If she has all the money she claims to have, that should have been peanuts to her! I gues not....Remy accused Barnes-Joseph of stealing the cash and managed to shoot at her outside a New York nightclub. Her attorneys tried to make the shooting appear as an accident, but the jury wasn't buying the bull....The Grammy nominated rapper was facing nine charges against her and has just been convicted on four major charges. She has two counts of first-degree assault, attempted coercion, and criminal possession of a weapon.
She was however, found not guilty of gang assault and witness tampering.
Remy Ma could face anywhere up to 25 years in prison. So far she has done 2 nights, and is on suicide watch. Celebs usually take prison time pretty hard, so they are keeping a close watch on her. As for now, her attorney is working on an appeal case for her... Good luck with that! I guess being "rouch and stuff wit ya afro puffs" ain't always worth it... Huh Remy???

For Your Information: More Sad, Senseless Death

Super-Fabulous singer Corrine Bailey Rae experienced a terrible tragedy earlier this week. Her husband passed away from a suspected accidental overdose. Perezhilton.com had more to say on this subject:

T.I Sentenced to 12 Months Behind Bars!

Here is an update on the T.I weapons charge case. The associated press had the following to say at press time:

ATLANTA - (AP) Rapper T.I. was expected to plead guilty Thursday to federal weapons charges and will face prison time, according to two people familiar with his case.The 27-year-old singer, whose real name is Clifford Harris, was expected to be sentenced to 1,500 hours of community service talking to youth groups around the country, followed by about 12 months in prison, according to two people familiar with the negotiations who spoke on condition of anonymity because the plea deal had not been finalized yet Thursday morning.


Harris is one of Atlantic Records' most successful artists. His sixth album, "T.I. vs. T.I.P.," was released July 3, debuting at No. 1. He appeared in the 2007 film "American Gangster," which starred Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe.His prison time could be increased or reduced, depending on his fulfillment of the terms of the deal and good behavior, the two people familiar with the negotiations said. His talks to youth groups are supposed to be about the pitfalls of guns, gangs and drugs.


The U.S. Attorney in Atlanta announced a change-of-plea hearing was scheduled Thursday afternoon at the federal courthouse. Prosecution officials were expected to speak to the media after the hearing.U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell Jr. must approve the deal.Harris was arrested Oct. 13, just blocks away and hours before he was to headline the BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta.He was charged with possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, as well as possession of firearms by a convicted felon. He faced a maximum of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each count.Harris was allegedly trying to buy unregistered machine guns and silencers. He initially pleaded not guilty, and has been under house arrest since he was released on $3 million bond Oct. 26.Harris, co-CEO of Grand Hustle Records, grew up in Atlanta. His first taste of success came with his 2003 album, "Trap Muzik." In 2004, warrants were issued for his arrest on probation violations for a drug conviction, and he was sentenced to three years behind bars.

I dunno, I love T.I but he's an idiot for pulling this crap. I think he most definitely got off easy, but I'm not hating. I hope he turns his life around, and learns some hard lessons-- after all, he is a role model and most importantly a father!

Art of Controversy? You Decide.

Lebron James has made history once again-- as well as controversy....Once again! James and supermodel Gisele Bundchen grace the cover of this month's Vogue magazine. The idea behind the image is showing two superstars who are at the top of their game. Lebron is the first African-American male to grace the cover of this high-end fashion rag.... Many people are upset about the cover because they claim it perpetuates stereotypes. The stereotype being the "godzilla-like mandingo" violently lusting after the virginal white blonde woman. I say paaaaaahleeze. Lebron James is a fierce competitor, and the presence of the basketball shows that the image is just playing off of the expressions that he is famous for when he's out on the field. Gisele is a model so of course-- she's doing what she does. There is no conspiracy or racism behind the image. In fact, I think it's kind of cool. But who knows? Art is up to interpretation, so what do you think???

Spitzer SEX Scandal!!!!

Unless you ahve been living under a rock for the past week, you have heard about the media frenzy that ensued after NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer got busted in a prostitution ring. He had allegedly taken almost $80,000 of federal funds ($4,000) at a time to spend on Christie; a call girl for the high-priced whore house (Emporer's Club VIP). Spitzer is married with 3 teenage daughters. He was caught when an IRS investigation started when it was flagged that money was leaving accounts but not being accounted for. Spitzer's phone was tapped as he set up a "date" with a "model" in Washington D.C.

On Wednesday he resigned, and was replaced with Lt. Gov. David Paterson. He will be the first black governor for NY as well as the first legally blind one in national history! What a twist! This story is so ironic because Spitzer has been known for his pious, righteous reputation. He even took down a mobb gang that was money-laundering using the same phone-tap tactics that did him in. That just goes to show you that all that is done in the dark will come to light-- no one is safe from Karma's wrath! Woooooow. Now that's deep!

Hollywood Star Terminally Ill!

Famed actor Patrick Swayze-- best known for his break-out role in the 80's cult classic Dirty Dancing has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The star's publicist made the announcement earlier this week to the public. Swayze has had a wayward life ever since his sister committed suicide in 1994. From there, he went in a downward spiral with excessive drugs and alcohol abuse. Eventually, he checked himself into rehab...

It is now known that Swayze developed a terrible habit of smoking 3 packs of cigarettes each day. Smoking can cause pancreatic cancer. This particular type of cancer has the lowest survival rate. Usually it is diagnosed once it has spread. In this case it was caught before spreading, but doctors say that even with his chemotherapy, the chances of survival are still slim. Our prayers and our thoughts go out to Swayze and his family. He is quite strong. He is currently filming a TV show called Beast for channel A&E. He is the personification of the old adage: "You can't keep a good man down"! Wooooow, how tragic. I hope this true Hollywood story ends well!

Rhianna: The Beyonce Anti-Dote

The world has found a new love, and her name is Rhianna! Say what you will about her, but I'm glad that we finally have an alternative. It seemed for about 3 or 4 years all we ever heard about or saw musically was Bey. It's not that I'm a hater, or even have a problem with her; after all she is beautiful and talented. But one can only take but so much of a person at a time! I'm relieved that the Beyonce-obsession has been replaced with a younger, funkier, spunkier, cultured, more-humble counterpart. Rhianna has a reputation of humbleness and humility-- no diva-syndrome here. And although her voice can be annoying and boderline whinny, I like how she's not afraid to experiment with other genres outside of R&B.

Our World Can Be Cruel: Crisis in Darfur

Hello, faithful flock. As you might have guessed from the title of this blog, my mission is simple and important. I want to bring the world of entertainment, politics and art together in one place. I want intellectuals and heat-seekers alike to get something from what I have to say. That having been said, I want to reflect the realities of our world. A world that can be so cool, magical, beautiful, majestic... And yet a world that can be so cruel and full of horrific, evil, frightening, traumatic, disgusting events and images (thus the name: Cool Cruel World). That is my goal, and that is my promise to you. So let's discuss.

For those of you who are unaware, there is a serious crisis going on in Darfur, Sudan. Many call it genocide, some call it war. I just call it all-around apalling. The crisis has many sources, but I will simplify it for you. Basically, the root of the problem is environment. About 2 decades ago, a cocktail of desertification, famine and drought ravaged the area. The Baggara (Arab, camel-herding nomads) tribes of the north were effected most by this reality. As they travelled to the opposite side of the region inhabited by the non-Arab Fur, Zaghawa, and Massaleit ethnic groups in search of tillable land and water, conflict arose due to scarce resources and over-population. What has ensued has caused over 200,000 men, women and children to lose their precious lives. The Sudanese government has given funding to the Janjawid (Baggara) groups-- although they are supposed to remain neutral in this conflict. The government has all but denounced foreign efforts at peace claiming that foreign involvement with this conflict will be viewed as an invasion of the country and will be handled as such.... This is a devastating crisis and too many people have died. Millions of people have been displaced and are homeless because of this. We, in this country are so lucky and fortunate that we do not face these realities....

Wacko Jacko's Losing More Than His Mind!

As the saying goes, "the jig is up". Michael Jackson is facing some serious financial woes, as it has become increasingly difficult for him to keep up with his lavish lifestyle. The "king of pop" has lost his famed Neverland Ranch. The house is going up for auction on March 19th. Unless Jackson can come up with the $24,525,406.61 that it costs to save his home, it will be sold. Everything in the ranch will come with the sale including personal items... It must be a far fall from grace when you were up that high. Poor Jacko!

Naomi's Health Scare!

Many reports of supermodel Naomi Campbell's "mystery infection" has been put to rest. According to Perezhilton.com fashion diva has undergone surgery for an ovarian cyst. Last week she had gone in for a check up when doctor's found the cyst on her ovary. They explained that if she hadn't removed it now, it would have become inflamed and caused serious damage to her ovaries. Currently, Naomi is conscious and doing well. Friends say she should be out of the hospital in as little as 3 days... Whooopee!

Hulk Hogan is a Trifling Hoe!

As we all know by now, Terry "Hulk" Hogan is going through an ugly divorce from his wife Linda. The details of the divorce was shrouded in mystery until now. The wrestling hero has turned out to be a backstabber, and not a very good father either! Apparently, Hulk was sleeping with his daughter's (Brooke Hogan) very good friend Christiane Plante (33). Plante had helped Brooke when she was working on her flop of an album entitled Unidiscovered back in 2006. Plante is not only a home wrecker, but she's also a snitch! A snitch with a high price tag. Word is she got paid a pretty penny to spill the details to The Enquirer:

Christiane states, "My relationship with Terry [Hulk Hogan] began at a time when Terry and Linda privately knew their marriage was ending. She had left him already, although no official papers had been filed. Terry is a good man, good father and a good friend, and he and I grew close at a time when he was going through a very difficult period. It seemed right then, but I know it was wrong."

"Having felt the guilt and pain build up, I gave a note to Brooke apologising for my actions," adds whorish Christiane. "I will never be able to fully forgive myself for this. I have lost an amazing friend."

Poor Brooke. She has blogged on her Myspace page about how hard it is to be betrayed by the people closest to her, and I don't blame her. Why would her father do such a thing with her friend of all people? Revenge is a dish best served cold-- Linda's gonna get that money!!!

Nas is Like....REALLY PISSED!

Maxim Magazine has got a lot of explaining to do... In their latest issue, the skin mag gave a scathing review of Nas' soon-to-be-released LP entitled "Nigger". They gave the album 2.5 stars. The only problem was that the album hasn't even been released yet. It is tentatively set to be released on April 27th.





At press time, Nas seemed to be annoyed and confused saying, "I don't even understand what a music review by Maxim means. I would only pay attention to reviews from the likes of Playboy Magazine. I mean, the album isn't even complete, I'm still in the studio working on tracks!" I have to say I agree. Maxim is far from reputable. They recently issue a retraction and apology to Black Crowes for doing a bad review on their latest effort, "War Paint". The funny thing is, the journalist hadn't even listened to the album! At least they apologized... I guess.
