Quote Of The Day
Beyonce Covers Marie Claire...
...And talks about her desire to be an "Icon" versus a "pop star". It looks like my predictions were right. Homegirl is really hanging up the towel on music and venturing into acting and other ventures. I know it's mean, but when I read that I finally.... EXHALED! LOL! Beyonce is beautiful and talented... But ENOUGH ALREADY! DAMN! One can only take so much of one person. And while we're at it, I'm gettin kinda sick of Rih-Rih too. ESTELLE, where are you???
Anyway, this is what Bey had to say on the issue:There is a time limit on being a pop star, yes. Being a legend, an icon? Absolutely not. I’m over being a pop star. I don’t wanna be a hot girl. I wanna be iconic. And I feel like I’ve accomplished a lot. I feel like I’m highly respected, which is more important than any award or any amount of records. And I feel like there comes a point when being a pop star is not enough."
Akon Still Acting Like A CONVICT

I am seriously wondering why this man is still relevant and why people still pay money to see him act the damn donkey... It might just remain a mystery until the end of time.. But I digress. Akon was at a concert in South America last week. He got frustrated with an over-zealous fan who kept grabbing on him, so he slapped the snot out of her and she fell off the stage. I guess he has learned nothing from the last incident where he threw a fan off the stage. He is currently getting sued for that incident. It's unfortunate because for every Barack Obama, there are 10 Akon's doing ignorant things and setting our culture back another 20 years... Sad. Anyway, check out the madness below. WATCH:
BLENDER MAGAZINE: Tupac Most Overrated Artist In History!
The latest issue of Blender (on newsstands next week) claims that Tupac is an overrated artist, with rock-star appeal who "larded record sales and had misogynistic & violent filler"... I have to say I'm not surprised by this sentiment.. I mean, no offense, but n is run by a bunch of white people who most likely have a hard time relating to Tupac's message. Sure some of Pac's lyrics were violent. But unfortunately so were the neighborhoods he grew up in. Yes, Tupac did refer to certain women as "bitches". But not all women. Not the educated strong women raising families single-handedly. The "bitches & hoes" he referred to were probably the women who fit that role. I mean, are we not allowed to call a spade a spade? But I digress. Check out what REUTERS had to say about this article:
September 04, 2008. LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Dead rapper Tupac "2Pac" Shakur, the hip-hop icon who sold more records after he was murdered than during his brief career, is the most overrated person in music, according to music magazine Blender.
Shakur tops a tongue-in-cheek list that also includes "places, trends and other junk in rock," Blender said in its upcoming October issue, due on newsstands next week.
Other overrated finalists included the Grammys at No. 7, encores at No. 12, Pink Floyd at No. 14 and "the music you loved as a teenager" at No. 23.
Shakur, a "gangsta" rapper who showed his sensitive side in movies, was killed during an unsolved drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996. More than a dozen albums have been released in the ensuing years, and his image is almost as ubiquitous as that of Che Guevara or Bob Marley.
But while Shakur was a decent rapper with "insane rock-star charisma," according to Blender, he also "larded records with self-mythologizing, mediocre filler."
It's not the first time the pages of Blender have been used to bring down Shakur a few notches. In its June issue, rapper Lil Wayne listed him among his top five rappers, but then admitted: "I can't front: I was never into Pac."
As for the Grammys, the music industry's top awards, Blender said sitting through the ceremony was "like watching paint dry on Celine Dion's forehead."
And encores were notable chiefly for allowing bands to go backstage and do drugs while fans wonder if they should beat the rush to the parking lot, Blender said.
Veteran British rock band Pink Floyd, meanwhile, were responsible for "unbearable LSD slapstick" and "self-important bombast." And Blender warned that teenagers' brains "can inflate a great band to Christ-size proportions" and turn a bad song into the most meaningful.
Beyonce Gains 20 lbs To Be ETTA JAMES
Here is a picture of Beyonce on the set of the new biopic of ETTA JAMES. The pop star had to gain 20 lbs for the role, and claims that she had a lot of fun doing it... Unfortunately, B had to shed the pounds just as soon as she gained them because she was cast in a suspense thriller called, "Obsessed". Looks like Rih-Rih has taken over and Beyonce has decided to hang up the pop-star hat and put on the thespian crown... Hahaha, even I had to laugh at that one. I personally don't think Beyonce is a good actress, but maybe since she has more time to focus on her acting skills she might surprise me!
He's Going Straight 2 Da BANK With This.....

Ne-Yo is in great spirits these days. He has won a lawsuit and is getting $700,000 from R. Kelly. Two years ago, they were on tour together and R. Kelly started getting jealous because Ne-Yo was taking all the attention away from him. He changed Ne-Yo's time slot, reduced his stage time, even took away some of his dancers! Ne-Yo cried foul and claimed Kelly was dishonoring their contract. Ne-Yo left the tour and sued. This just goes to show it pays to stand up for yourself. Holla!
There IS Life After Gay Al...
In All Fairness...

...We all know the Republican National Convention kicked off this week. I'm not promising "equal coverage", because this is MY blog, and I get to decide what I want to display or not display. But I will say that there will be coverage-- just to keep abreast of the latest. Last night, the controversial Sarah Palin did her speech and essentially had to prove herself to the nation. Her speech was clever ( and very sarcastic, almost to the point of offensive), and she clearly did not write it herself. Her and McCain have exaggerated her achievements and down-played Obama's. It was upsetting. She claimed Obama has written memoirs but never laws... That is false. She boasts improving local energy sources for the country, which she can't really take credit for-- she's from an oil state. She hasn't done more than say a George Bush who hails from Texas-- another oil state. She's all around pretty much a hot mess. If you didn't get a chance to hear the speech, you can check it below:

STAY TUNED...
The Face Of CONSERVATIVE America?
BEHOLD! The picture above is of Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol, 17, with her soon-to-be baby-daddy : Levi Johnston. The two of them are picture above in an "embrace"... And yes, I did say baby-daddy. You see, Bristol is now pregnant with Levi's child. At the ender age of 17... I wonder why McCain thought that a woman with such little experience and such a non-conservative lifestyle wold be right for office. Teenage pregnancy isn't the best message to be sending out to the fickle and conservative Republicans of this country... Will this effect the elections? Some are saying, "no"... I'm saying, "No DUUUUH!" It is a slippery slope McCain, and it just got that much harder. At a time when Republicans are voting for the democratic candidate, there's just no room for error. Isn't just ironic that McCain once compared Barack to Britney Spears? SMH. Bet he's eating those words now!
This is a photo taken yesterday at the Republican National Convention of Palin's children. The young lady in the black dress is our rapidly-expanding little friend Bristol. She is supposedly getting married to the baby-daddy sometime after the pregnancy... We'll see how well THAT goes.
