The internet media took Alicia's controversial Blender article by storm, and for the past few days she has been the talk of the town... I'm sure her publicist was thrilled about that one... Today Alicia spoke to the press in an effort to clear the air on her conspiracy theory issues. She claims that a lot of what she said was twisted and miscontrued to sell units... Hmmmm, that definitely sounds familiar. Keys had this to say in response to the article:
"My comments about `gangsta rap' were in no way trying to suggest that the government is responsible for creating this genre of rap music. The point that I was trying to make was that the term was oversloganized by some of the media causing reactions that were not always positive. Many of the `gangsta rap' lyrics articulate the problems of the artists' experiences and I think all of us, including our leaders, could be doing more to address these problems including drugs, gang violence, crime, and other related social issues."
Now this, I can agree with. When Blender was contacted for a possible retraction, they told the associated press that they stand by their story. This is the reason why if I'm ever famous and I do an interview, I'm going to have two bugged bodyguards plus my own tape recorder hidden well into my ample bosom! Haha.
