My two fave n' fashionable club kids: Lady Gaga and Richie Rich (of Heatherette)... Remember in the Kanye vs. Jay-Z fashion war post I was saying that the best and brightest in fashion are those that offend, get a rise out of you, and sometimes even make you angry? To me that IS great fashion. It provokes discussion, disdain, praise and awe-inspiration. Lady Gaga is definitely offending A LOT of people in this outfit, lol. It kinda looks like a sheer Satan body-suit, lol. But I love it. Not to wear (ever!) but to look at. And just to see how incredibly brave and confident this woman is... Geez.

Fashionistas: UNDER CONSTRUCTION

This past Saturday at St. Mary's in Harlem, desginer Dwayne Lavender (left) presented the 6th annual "UNDER CONSTRUCTION" fashion show. The theme was construction, so there were ladders and other objects scattered around, and the show was in a basement... Fashion elites, and magazines such as LUCKY MAGAZINE were in the house. The show featured several designers and models (me included!). The house was packed to capacity, and there was only standing room. Japanese Jazz quartet called: Yaz Band played during the intermissions and between presentations.

There was wine, grapes and other hors d'oeurves for guests. Things were beautifully chaotic backstage as we prepped for our face-time:

(my purple eyelashes look crazy-hawt... right???)
The lines were edgy and avant garde. First up was Dwayne's Line: "A Classic Story":

Next up was Chimere's "Diva's to the Dance Floor"

The line was fun, flirty, edgy and bright-- with fluorescent hues and polka dots and designs. Perfect for the fashion-forward 80's inspired diva. And there goes Chimere-- brains behind the brand:
Next was Ms. Colorful's piece. Her line is made by hand. She crochets each and every piece herself:

Ms. Colorful's personality is just as bright as her outfits! She was a joy to work with:
Next up was "The Doll House Collection" by the House of Barron Wise :
His line was one of my favorites. It's very sophisticated, classic, clean but innovative and fresh. Check it:

This event was wonderful for many reasons. Not only was it diverse and culturally stimulating, but it celebrated the Harlem community and the great people in it. I felt like we were doing this for them, and it was all worthwhile. To see the smiling faces and hear the cheers of joy as we strutted our stuff was truly amazing. I am surely not a size 2-- I definitely have curves, but it was cool that I could rep for all the junk-in-the-trunk females in the house as well. It was a talent I didn't know I had! And get this-- Chimere wants to cast me in more shows! I say LET's DO THIS! Journalist/socialite/model sounds like a pretty good title to me! HAHAHAHA.
By the end of the event we were all happy, delirious and tired (yes VERY tired, smh):
Can you tell??? Haha.
(ps: BIG SHOUT S to my photographer Techie for makin' it happen in the clutch!)

Style Wars...

So out of 64 rappers in the country, America narrowed ish down to two-- Jigga and Kanye. Hmmmm I'm not too sure. COMPLEX MAGAZINE is having a style war to see who the best-dressed rapper out is. Kanye, definitely is a style-maverick in a lot of ways. He definitely is an aficionado-- he deserves it. His style can be controversial and misunderstood-- I personally feel that makes for great fashion-- memorable statements.

Jay-z on the other hand is safe... Stylish, but nevertheless predictable.

I would have NEVER chosen him as top-two. I would have at least considered Andre 3000 for that spot. Pharrell's not out as much lately as previous years, but he's certainly another that can contend with 'Ye. Jigga's not bad by any means, but he might have been my #3 or #4 choice. Ah wel, America has spoken, and I wonder who you will choose?
You can still vote HERE
I'mma have to go team 'Ye in this one...

That's A Lil' Better

I was a lil hard on Lady Gaga earlier this week, because she was walking around England dressed like she turned off all the lights and hid all the mirrors when she woke up in the morning (I'm just saying). And even though this outfit is bold, it's definitely HAWT! Only something Mz. Gaga could pull, and I love it!

The Face of Our Youth.... Really?

Ok, let's face it. Soulja Boy Tellem isn't going anywhere, so we might as well get used to it. I mean, I can't like "Turn My Swag On" is addictive and it BUMPS in my ipod... Although me personally, I don't "Put" my swag on.... It's ALWAYS on, LOL! Holla!!! But I digress...
Why oh why does this poor child always show up in public looking so messy? He's a slim man, he shouldn't wear clothes that swim on him-- he looks crazy. And how about that belt? Aren't belts meant to hold UP your pants? Do I even need to talk about that buffoonery of a chain, and lawd what's going on wit ya boi's stance? Looking all: "HOW YOU DOIN"? And whatnot... SMH. Hire this boy a stylist please... If he already has one, we gotta handle that execution style!

What In Samhill?

Ignore Kanye and his super-fly main squeeze for a second and look to your left. What in the world is your boy Perez Hilton wearing??? It's my obligation to say something about this, because Perez clowns everyone all the time, and rarely feels a backlash. I'm doing my little part here for the community (insert raucous laughter here).

Picture of the Day

Check out this flick from fashion week of one of my favorite designers Richie Rich (of Heatherette), and my homegirl Pam Anderson who's body is looking CRAZY for a forty-something mother of 2.I took one of those "online celeb look-alike" thingies, and they said we had 70% resemblance, LMAO! I dunno about all that, but I always thought she was cool for supporting PETA (I am a hopeless animal-lover)like she does, and having the rep of being a pretty good mother (considering her fashion-choices). But I digress. Yes, yes y'all. That's the pic of the day... Well, actually THIS IS:
YOU GO GIRL!
