Terrance Dean, a former executive at MTV has written a tell-all book about the "down-low" lifestyle in the hip-hop music industry. It seems that tell-alls are very popular these days with the onslaught of Supahead, Nas' ex-wifey, and Bobby Brown's book respectively sending shock-waves through the entertainment industry. This is no different. For his safety however, Dean has promised not to name names, but his publicist claims that the people he talks about will be very easy to recognize. I'm thinking it'll be names like: Pa Mule, Boyd Stanks, 25 Cents, etc.
Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of love for the gay community, and I think it is a very brave and admirable thing to live your life the way you want to knowing society does not accept you. It take gum shun. But what I can't stand are people that live this down-low lifestyle, and trick women into believing they are loved, trick women into having their babies, and having unprotected sex with them. A speaker came to my university and told us that the down-low lifestyle of black gay men is contributing to more than 60% of the new H.I.V cases found in black women... Sad, disgusting, and true.
An "open" niche society of our American culture has always had INFLUENCE on the entertainment industry. tv, radio etc... Id'd as the gay community, things seem to be more (than the past) socialy acceptable to be gay, bi, lesbian etc... So, this tell-all book suppose to be new newz or just juicy gossip for the Wendy W. Experience or sumthin'???????
ReplyDeleteI think this is just some gay bull!! I don't judge people for what or how they see fit to do what they do. Life is a learning process. I'm sick of people blaming their irresponsibilities on others. First it was the gay population carried AIDS, now it's D.L. men giving it to our black queens. BULL!! The fact is if you have unprotected sex your taking a chance PERIOD!!! If you get caught up don't blame the person you were with blame yourself. If people would adhere to the rules of sex in the fist place they wouldn't have this problem because when you married it's till death do us part, so if the sex killed you at least it would be worth it.
