This ad ran in USA Today from the American Beverage Institute. This is an ad against the interlock system that would make breathalizers mandatory in every car. I personally think it was a very cheap shot at Lindsay, and their just using her name (and image) to get more attention. That's just lame. Not to say that her whole alcoholic-in-and-out-of-rehab-thrice-coke-in-nose antics weren't lame, but cut the kid a break... We all make mistakes... A couple times... Anyway, here is what her lawyer Blair Blerk had to say:
USA TODAY is idiotic for running such an irresponsible advertisement, suggesting that drinking and driving is
some kind of American "tradition" we should protect. Not identifying that this ad was paid for by the liquor industry is profoundly reckless.Drunk, old, white businessmen, drunk cougars out for girls night out, and drunk wedding parties should be kept off the roads of America. Lindsay Lohan fully endorses ignition interlock devices that have been well-proven to save lives."
Do you understand that days later if I were Lindsay I'd STILL be snappin' off. I'm talking "finger-pointed in a muthafugders forehead" snappin'. Oh hell naw!
