44th President Elect: BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

The 47-year-old, first time senator of Illinois has come a long way from community leader of Chicago's toughest Southside neighborhoods. He has soared the highest of heights, reached the ultimate goal-- he IS the living dream. For all those young Black boys and girls before him that said, "I want to be President of the United States one day", he has shown that the possiblity is real, and the dream can become a reality.

In my hometown of New York City, there was an unprecedented voter turnout. Over 600,000 new voters registered this year, and countless others stood in line for hours to be heard. And they were. Projected on large tv screens in Times Square and Harlem, the announcement of our new President came shortly after 11pm. The whole world rejoiced from Israel to Kenya, and all over our nation you could hear the crys of joy, and the tears of triumph from Chicago to Florida and everywhere in between. The world wants change, Americans want change and we are tired of waiting. We want change NOW, and Barack represents that change. He is not perfect, and he has his work cut out for him-- thanks, Bush (rolls eyes to the high heavens). But if his campaign was any demonstration of what this man can do-- then we're in good hands. This campaign has mobilized the youth and mobilized minority communities out of the dangers of apathy. Everyone from rockers to hip-hop stars have endorsed Obama. Today is the first day of the rest of our lives...

  2. I'm still in a state of shock, this moment is our generations defining moment. I thought of all those who came before us who helped us get to this moment. I also thought of all of those future generations who for years will hear about the day that America finally grew up:)
