Don't Mess Wit QUEEN BEE...

...Well apparently. It's not secret that all were in attendance for the NOTORIOUS movie premiere. All but one very distinct and important person: Lil' Kim. Recently, Kim has been speaking out in the media about her dislike of the film, and how the characters were portrayed incorrectly. She's mad at the poor casting choices (and I totally agree, I mean, Naturi Naughton as Lil' Kim? Gimmie a break)... MTV News has more on the situation at hand:

The Queen recently came out publicly and stated she is not in support of the film and blames Big's mother, Voletta Wallace, and his widow, singer Faith Evans, for what she calls a negative portrayal.

"I've had enough and I'm about to expose them both. ... I've been quiet for a long time," Kim was quoted as saying by Hip-Hop Weekly. "I'm very disappointed in Faith. There's nothing Faith or Ms. Wallace could do to stop me from reppin' B.I.G. all day. I'm gonna always do that. ... It's time for Ms. Wallace to be exposed.

"I was not involved in the movie," she continued. "[The filmmakers] never came and asked me anything about Biggie, but again, this was Faith and Ms. Wallace's movie," Kim told the tabloid about her thoughts on the biopic. "I couldn't believe it. I was outraged," adding that she thought Naturi Naughton was a bad choice to play her and that Jamal Woolard was a poor choice to portray Big.

I can't lie. I agree with most of what Kim said, except I'm not so sure why or how she could really have beef with the man's mother. I don't get how Voletta Wallace fits in to this beef, but I'm sure time will reveal... The casting choice was certainly poor. Naturi is NOT Lil' Kim nor will she ever be. Even homegirl from Player's Club would have done a better job. And wouldn't Gorilla Zoe be the obvious choice for BIG? SMH... Faith was asked about how she felt in response to Kim's outbursts in Hip Hop Weekly Magazine. Faith had the following to say:

I try my best not to think about it," Evans told MTV News on Thursday afternoon (January 8) about Kim's recent quotes. "It's kinda sad."

Evans said the magazine informed her of the quotes. "I got four kids, and I definitely don't have time for this type of sh--," she noted. "It's just sad. I don't know Kim's story like that. The part of my life that she was a part of, that what was in my book. This movie is not relative to my book other than that there are certain things in there. This is not my movie. I didn't write the script. Any characters in the film had to agree for their life rights to be in the movie. I don't think I would have signed anything had I felt I was not portrayed properly. I think she had the opportunity to do that. I could be mistaken. I wasn't there....I think that beyond myself, Ms. Wallace or whoever else she wants to blame, everyone who was around Big at that time has had some things to say about [her relationship with Biggie] in order for Cheo to even write the book. He interviewed pretty much all of us. She's sadly mistaken. I'm aware of what she has to say, and that's fine. I don't know what to say. God bless her."

Hmmmm, interesting, isn't it? We will just have to see how this all plays out in the coming weeks, but I do know this: Kim might be an itty bitty lil thing-- but I DAMN sure wouldn't wanna mess with her. This lady is gully, she'll lie in court, duck and dodge the long arm of the law and do whatever else it is she has to do to "stay down". All y'all could miss me with any of that level of drama... I'm good. Kim hold ya head girl, your fans are definitely feeling you. As for Faith and Ms. Wallace, I don't knock em either-- my real beef is with the casting director of "Notorious". SMH.

The President's Club...

Yesterday in the Nation's Capital 5 presidents met up in the White House to shoot the shit. Those 5 included the leaders of the old school: Jimmy Carter, George Bush Sr., Bill Clinton & George Bush Jr. The leader of the NEW school was our modern-day hero: Barack Hussein Obama. They pow-wowed and talked about Britney Spears, and did each other's hair, and gossiped about each others wives... Nah, I'm just playin, they never talked about each other's wives... LOL

The Favorite Right Now...

Just like I did with M.I.A (when I first started this blog, and before Pineapple Express...smh), subsequently with Santogold, and most recently with Little Jackie, I am just discussing what is playing in the IPOD right now... Lady Gaga has been making a buzz for over a year now, and I'm feeling homegirls swagger... Of course she hails from the greatest-city-on-earth-- NYC, just like me!



She was also a Manhattan-private-school-brat (haha, gotta love us!), and ended up at the Tisch School of Arts in NYU. She was writing for Interscope by 20, and wrote songs for pop-acts like Pussycat Dolls. Lady Gaga's sound blew up in the Manhattan Underground scene, and she's loved by gays far and near... And you know, once you get the gays-- you're in! LMAO... But I digress. Lady G is a true original with funky, soulful vocals and too, too, too much swagger for all y'all. She really does her thing, and you can consider her glam-rock-club-house-hip-hopish music. She has a HAWT single out with Akon right now called, "Just Dance". Check it out:

Whattup faithful flock? Y'all said you wanted to hear more about my life? You got it! And.... I've got news. As you all know, I love to make social commentary about pop culture, politrix, fashion, film, etc. That's basically what I do here all day on CCW. But one can never restrict oneself to just one thing... Can you? Not me!

The image above is of me and my best friend Arniesha. We met the very first day of orientation in college 8 years ago, and have been literally inseparable ever since. We are probably the two most zany women you'll ever meet (besides FRANGELA-- of course!) We have always enjoyed social commentary and making people laugh. In college everyone said we should have a show. Well? You never know. Arniesha and I enjoy VH1's BEST WEEK EVER (and if you don't watch it you should). It's basically a show that looks back at the week in pop culture through a very comedic, sometimes sarcastic, and always insightful lens. We were inspired by two virtuoso's on that show: Frances Callier & Angela Shelton. They created the dynamic duo known as: FRANGELA.



These women are hilarious, contagious, and they are ALSO best-friends. They have both inspired Arniesha and I so much so-- that one day we too shall pursue our dreams as a dynamic media-oriented comedienne super-duo: "D'ARNIESHA"! Hahaha. Not to steal Frangela's thunder, but we loved their concept! These two wonderful women have been making strides in the game for years now. Arniesha and I are both media specialists who enjoy the quirkiness of life. We soak up pop culture like it's going out of style, and we always, always, ALWAYS have an opinion. We both love to make people laugh, and make them happy so we figured-- why not join forces and take over the world like PINKY & THE BRAIN? It's only a matter of time folks. Please don't say I didn't warn you!

Will Beyawnce Make History With Her Voice?

So, my BFF and I were chit-chatting about this, and we have become rather worried. You see, Obama's camp is yet to announce who they are choosing to sing the national anthem and ring in a new era with our brand-new-super-hot-sexy-smart-eloquent-hot-thang-of-a-president Barack Obama. Jennifer Hudson is out of the runnings-- for obvious reasons, and her people recently came public with that decision. Rihanna is doing the benefit charity dinner beforehand (thank GOD), and we all know Whitney Houstonn fell off the radar-- I dunno if she would even WANT to be involved in something so high-pressure right now. Mariah is somewhere in La-La Land with Nick Corny (I mean Cannon), and I hope they don't pick Alicia. No offense, but she's whiner-- I just couldn't see that. Now, UNLESS they go the classic route and choose an Aretha or someone like that, the only and most obvious choice would be: BEYONCE. Not for nothing, but that would be rather boring a predictable. I hope they can surprise with someone totally out of this hemisphere.... We'll see.

For Serious, Jet Blue?

Don't know this guy, huh? Well you should.. Especially some of you ladies out there because this is a newly rich and VERY SMART man. Raed Jarrar (Jet Blue passenger & all-around genius) just made $240,000 in light of our constitution. He boarded a Jet Blue flight and was asked to change his shirt because it made other passengers "uneasy" and was: "The equivalent of a man going into a bank with a shirt that says, 'I am a bank robber'". Wow-- so many things wrong with THAT one, that I'm not even going to touch it. His t-shirt had Arabic script written on the front with: "We will not be silenced" written right below it. Ohhhhh the horror (**rolling eyes strongly & intently**)!!! Anyway, Mr. Jarrar was forced to move from the front of the plane to the back-- even after he was kind enough to remove his shirt in exchange for one of Jet-Blue's. I am appalled at our behavior in this country. Aren't we supposed to be "free"? Whatever happened to freedom of speech and yadda, yadda, yadda?

In any event, I'm glad we have the freedom to sue, because ol' boy sued the PANTS offa Jet Blue-- and trust me, this is NOT the economic climate in which you want to get sued over frivolous stupidity like this... SMH. Big shouts to Mr. Jarrar, and anyone who stands up against that big ol' ugly machine.

Wow, sorry guys. In the last week I've already broken like 3 of my resolutions... One being to post everyday, smh... But I'm back! Never fear! Now, let's get down to business... It hurts my heart to see otherwise "reputable" media outlets succomb to lethargy aka BAD JOURNALISM. Make sure you get your facts super-straight, because the masses depend on it! I won't let you down faithful flock-- I only bring y'all the really real. What I'm referring to is Access Hollywood's report of the Samantha Ronson/Lindsay Lohan break-up. Because they reported it, whordes of other blogs (including the "reputable" Perez Hilton.com) ran with the false story. Now Lindsay took to her blog to call bitches out:

Happy 2009, We're Right On TIME!

Wassup my faithful flock? This is it. You know I love and cherish every last one of you-- and every chance I get, I'mma make sure you know that! **MUAH**! This year has been quite a doozy for me, filled with ups, downs, highs, lows, love, pain, misery, silence, excitement, joy-- the works! But through it all, my biggest pride is this site. Graduating from High School, being independet, graduating from college, getting my first apartment, my first car, first job, etc-- PALES in comparison to the joy and accomplishment I feel for this site. Thank you readers for making this worthwhile for me (and please, please pleeease comment more! I know you're out there... LOL). Thanks to all my readers for the positive e-mails, words of encouragement, words of admiration, and tips! Please keep them coming & thanks!!! We are doing even BIGGER things in 2009, and I know you will ride with me all the way to the top! I've figured out a few resolutions that I have to make in order to ensure my success this year, and they are as follows:

-I will follow my heart no matter what anyone says I can or cannot do.
-I will follow-through with grad-school and get my degree.
-I will keep in touch with my family more often.
-I will run 4 times a week (like I used to) or renew my gym membership (whichever is easier).
-I will expect and demand reciprocation from the people in my life I care about.
-I will dedicate everything I have to this site-- even on days when I'm sick, lazy or uninspired.
-I will give up crushing on the guy that I truly adore (who is totally wrong for me). (!!!!!)
-I will count my blessings everyday.
-I will pray to GOD even when I don't need anything.
-I will visit the darn dentist and get that molar fixed....smh.
-I will stay on my grown-woman shit!!!
-I will give up my bad-habits... (for real this time, lol)
-I will focus on the positives in my life.
-I will network and nuture relationships with more bloggers.
-I will be the best damn me, I can be!

In short my friends... Oh-NINE IS MINE! Look out for me-- this year "it" happens!

Say What???

So... I've been trying to avoid this story all week, but it's just been gnawing at me... I figure I'd give my 2 cents... So apparently in this month's Elle Magazine, Beyonce has proven she's lost her damn mind by saying the following:

“I grew up upper class. Private school. My dad had a Jaguar. We’re African-American and we work together as a family, so people assume we’re like The Jacksons. But I didn’t have parents using me to get out of a bad situation."

Good lawd, there are so many things wrong with that statement, where do I begin? Not only did her father allegedly use DC profits for an expensive drug habit, but it was also noted that certain members of DC were cheated out of money by him... Additionally, we all know that he quit his job to manage her group-- so clearly he NEEDED Destiny's Child to maintain their "expensive" lifestyle. How is that any different from what Beyonce alleges the Jackson family did? Oh, I know-- the Jackson family actually used their talent to get out of a poverty-stricken neighborhood in Gary, IN, whereas Matthew Knowles was just a greedy, snorting bastard-- lol... Harsh, I know-- but this quote SERIOUSLY got on my nerves. And I'm not the only one-- apparently Janet is REALLY upset about this, and she should be. If it wasn't for the Jackson family and the many color barriers they broke there wouldn't BE A BEYONCE. So she really needs to watch her mouth, and stop talking about other people's families... Sheesh! Apparently Janet is not happy, and will have some choice words for Beyonce in the media sometime soon.... Can't wait!
